Information About Southern Baptist Missions Organization

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Matthew 28:19-20 HCSB

Southern Baptist Missions are made up of many organizations all working together to fulfill the Great Commission. Each individual, church and state convention gives prayer, time and money to support these missionaries. Following are the web sites to many of these organization. We encourage you to look through these sites. They are informative, interesting sites with more information on them than we can accurately place here.
 Cooperative Missions

Cooperative Program

Our Church works together through our California state convention to support many ministries and missions including: evangelism efforts, children’s homes, volunteer missions, missions education, new churches, colleges and universities, collegiate ministries, camps, and much more.

Through the International Mission Board (www.imb.org), Southern Baptists support approximately 5,300 missionaries who are engaging more than 1,194 different people groups around the world.

Over 1,781 churches have been planted through the efforts of more than 5,126 North American Missionaries. This is coordinated through North American Mission Board (www.namb.net) and individual state conventions.

Working together, Southern Baptists saw 995,079 new believers baptized in 2004!

North American Mission Board

NAMB's mission is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, start New Testament congregations, minister to persons in the name of Christ, and assist churches in the United States, Canada and U.S. territories in effectively performing these functions.

"We see a day when every person in every community in the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to hear the gospel, respond with faith in Christ, and participate in a New Testament fellowship of believers."

 Annie Armstrong

Annie Armstrong

Each year, Southern Baptists honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) by giving to the annual Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ.

International Mission Board

The International Mission Board was formerly known as the Foreign Mission Board.

IMB's main objective is presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to lead individuals to saving faith in Him and result in church-planting movements among all the peoples of the world.

God has called His people to proclaim His name among all peoples' but 4,992 people groups, live in The Last Frontier—the part of the world with little or no access to the gospel. That’s 1.6 billion people who have virtually no chance of hearing the good news of Jesus Christ.

God is using the IMB Missionaries supported by Southern Baptists to carry the light of Jesus to people groups in spiritual darkness across the globe so that all peoples may know Him.

Lottie Moon

Throughout her career, Lottie Moon wrote numerous letters home, urging Southern Baptists to be more involvement with missions. One of those letters triggered Southern Baptists' first Christmas offering for international missions - enough to send three new missionaries to China.
